Tombstone Tuesday - Verna C. Parker

Verna Catherine Pugh was born October 20, 1890 in Chicago, Illinois to John L. Pugh and Catherine Patterson. She lived with her mother in Washara county and married Clyde A. Parker January 11, 1911. They moved to Fond du Lac, WI around the 1920s. She died December 24, 1948 and was buried December 27, 1948 at Rienz Cemetery, east of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

According to my notes, they had eight children. Three died before Verna and a fourth died before Clyde. I have not located where they were buried. Two died less than one year of age. As far as I can tell, one son remains alive as of this writing.

The 1910 census shows Verna living with her mother at the Valois Denemore Parker residence in Wautoma, Wisconsin. Catherine Pugh was listed as age 41, relationship to head of household was listed as hired woman. Her occupation was listed as private family, servant. According to the 1910 census, Catherine was divorced and had one child.

At the 1910 census, Verna was listed as hired girl in the relationship to head of household field. Her occupation was the same as her mother, private family, servant. She was 19 at the time.

The census lists Valois D. Parker as head of household with Clyde, age 23, Lloyd, age 15 and Glen , age 10, still living at home. Valois was widowed only months before when Anna Belle Wood died November 6, 1909.
