Floyd Frederick Fowlie

Floyd Fowlie 1911

This is another scanned photo from one of the albums. I cropped off the handwritten caption "Floyd Fowlie 1911." Click read more for more details.

Floyd Frederick Fowlie was born June 30, 1899 in Rockwell City, Calhoun county, Iowa to Alexander Brown Fowlie and Mary C. (Kiesel) Fowlie. According to my notes, he was the youngest of 13 children. Yes, that's not a typo, thirteen children. His mother was nearly 45 years old and his father was 65 when he was born. According to my notes, Floyd served in World War I, CPL 70th inf regiment, 10th inf division is marked on his tombstone. According to this page, the 10th division was organized late in the war and never deployed to Europe. Floyd died March 7, 1947 and was buried at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City, Iowa along with several siblings and his parents.

He was the youngest brother of Frank Brown Fowlie.
